She gained fame by appearing in many Korean drama series, including A Hundred Years’ Inheritance (2013), Goddess of Marriage (2013), Birth of a Beauty (2014), and Five Children (2016).

Career

Shim Yi Young received recommendation to enroll in an acting academy from people around her while working after graduating from high school.

After diligently practicing acting, she made her debut under her real name, Kim Jin Ah, through Real Fiction (2000).

Unfortunately, she encountered a long period of obscurity after her next movie, Bongja (2000). Most of the movies she’s starred in were box office failures and she did not appear in drama series either.

In 2006, she started using the stage name Shim Yi Young. In the same year, she starred in Cruel Winter Blues (2006), in which she received praise for her acting along with other cast members.

Up to 2011, she had maintained a modest yet low-salary career. She was about to give up on her acting career back then, until she took a role in My Husband Got a Family (2012) and received a lot of attention for the first time in her life.

Since then, she has appeared in various drama series such as A Hundred Year Legacy (2013), The Suspicious Housekeeper (2013), Birth of a Beauty (2014), and Five Children (2016).
