Kim Sung Ryung is a South Korean actress and model.

She rose to prominence after winning the 1988 Miss Korea, before shifting her career acting and appearing in various Korean movies such as Who Saw the Dragon’s Claws? (1991) and Shadows in the Palace (2007).

Career

Kim Sung Ryung first started her career in beauty pageant. In 1988, she participated in Miss Korea and managed to come out as the winner. She then represented Korea on 1989 Miss Universe.

Afterwards, the Beauty Queen started working as a reporter for news program Entertainment Weekly.

Then in 1991, she made her acting debut on the film Who Saw the Dragon’s Claws?. She then followed it up with A Room in the Woods a year later.

Afterwards, Sung Ryung turned more into TV series. She made her debut in 1992 series titled 92 Whale Hunting.

She then starred in more series, such as Jo Gwang-jo (1996), The King and The Queen (1998), Empress Myeongseong (2001), and Ms. Kim’s Million Dollar Quest (2004).

This actress then made her comeback on the big screen in 2007. She played the supporting role in Shadows in the Palace.

She then followed it up with another supporting role in Rainbow Eyes. These two films got her some well-earned recognition.
