Quotes
“I started acting when I was 7 or 8. My first job was One Day with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. I had such a good time. They were so lovely to me. I remember when we wrapped, I cried for a very long time.”
“Every time I wrap a movie, I’m like, Oh no. I think with films, especially independent films, there’s so much heart, there’s so much passion, there’s so much creativity, and it’s so intense for such a short amount of time. That’s why I think I get emotional when it’s over. You become like a family, and you’re all so close, and then you have to go your separate ways.”
“I saw Charlize Theron in Monster. That was the point in time where I was like, okay, I want to do this. I think it’s so cool how she transformed for the role. So I admired her for a very long time.”
“In my mind I don’t think I’m famous!”
“Make-up and beauty have been parts of my life for a long time […] I think make-up is such a good way to express your personality, especially on the red carpet.”
“While I was filming CODA I was under quite a lot of pressure so I was a bit stressed and I had this acne break out. I was so worried about it but the make-up artist just said, “You know what? We should enhance it. You’re playing a teenager.” She told me not to be shy about it and it made me more confident. It made me not want to cover it up or wear make-up on it everyday and I love that.”
“When you’re young it’s hard not to get caught up in wanting to look perfect and have flawless skin, but that’s not always reality. It taught me that the things that aren’t perfect, aren’t necessarily flaws. You should embrace your features whether they’re considered good or bad.”
“For better or worse, Gen Z’s approach to beauty is so dictated by social media – it’s so present. I think it’s not a good thing that teenagers are looking on Instagram and seeing all these filtered and airbrushed images that aren’t real.”
“At the same time, for beauty [social media]’s a great way to discover new products or routines. I’ve found some great beauty products from watching videos online and Instagram can be good too.”
“[CODA] is a love letter to family, and I think a lot of people during the pandemic have either been forced to be apart from their loved ones or they’ve reconnected.
“[CODA] is kind of the movie that you need to see, because there’s so much love and there’s so much heart. I think you need a movie that’s going to make you laugh, but you also need a movie that’s going to make you feel, but that’s not harrowing or depressing. Those movies are great to watch and you learn a lot watching them, but right now what we’re living through is quite depressing, so you need that kind of balance.”
Emilia Jones dove into the entertainment industry at such a young age and remains consistent in her teenage years. Her aspiration is truly something to look up to.
