Quotes
“It’s so refreshing to see [Blockers] kind of film from a female perspective.”
“Why the fuck are there double standards? If a girl wants to have sex on prom night, why is she deemed quote-unquote ‘slutty’? With a guy it’s all just high-fives!”
“Losing your virginity should be a powerful feeling. It’’s like getting your period. Like, ‘Cheers to the loss of our innocence!’”
“My dad left when I was twelve and went to Europe and started a whole new family. I’ve had those moments where, despite all the shit that’s happened… I’m going to be friendly with him. So, I’m usually cast as the girl with daddy problems.”
“I wasn’t raised in the spotlight. We had a normal childhood. I grew up in the valley, I’m a little valley rat. My family taught me that it’s not a game, it’s not about Instagram followers, it’s not about the money—it’s about finding something that you love and making it your own.”
“Everyone just acts as a keyboard warrior over social media, but they’re not going out there and making the change. You have to show face.”
“We just keep moving forward while the world seems to be turning backwards. It’s like a tidal wave—we just have to keep going.”
“I used to hate [my name]. Remember I wanted my name to be Crystal? And you were like, “You don’t want your name to be Crystal. You’ll be happy your name is Gideon in the future.”
“I’ve never found the time to pack my own food, usually because I’ve always filmed on location and I’m in a hotel, but I’ve recently started doing the Airbnb thing, so I’m able to cook a little bit more, which is nice.”
“Very excited to work with all of these people and to be a part of something that really, really matters!”
” I try and keep my phone away from me when I’m on set because I just have conversations with everyone, and we talk and talk and laugh — and it’s not even just, like, talking about the industry, you know? Everybody is just getting to know each other, but that’s my favourite part of the industry.”
“Honestly, working with some of these heavy hitters is a pretty big deal for me, so I just try to soak up every moment.”
“How unbelievable the human mind is. I just can’t imagine ever hurting someone the way that so many people have and how personal it is for the murderers, even if something just seems so completely out of line and crazy. It’s just something I’ll never understand.”
“Every single true crime show I’ve watched, I’m kind of like, ‘why?! Like, why did you do this? What was the point?’”
“It’s always really nice when something you’ve worked so hard on is welcomed into the world with open arms like that. It feels really good, and to know that people are still fans of those projects and still watch them and are still sad that some of them aren’t coming back, it’s a really nice feeling.”
“I love voice acting. I’d say it’s just as difficult, especially because you’re portraying every emotion just through your voice. You can’t see your face. It’s definitely one of my favourite things to do.”
“Pacific Rim is also, honestly, very gratifying work, gets very deep emotionally. It’s a different world. It’s a cozy world; I love it. You get to sit in your little box, become your little character.”
“I feel like if I connect to the project, if I connect to the character, I’m excited to go to work every day, and that’s what inspires me, and seeing that the people around me are just as excited and passionate about their jobs and what they’re doing in their own roles. I feel like for any career that’ll make you feel better, that’ll energise you.”
“I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here. I will continue to be a fighter for peace and love and unity and equality for all, and I hope to continue working!”
““[The Craft: Legacy] is not like the original [1996 film]. But, it’s a beautiful re-imagining, timely, and important for the current generation. I hope people recognize that.”
“Female power right now, in this world, means everything.”
“I’m so excited about The Craft and I feel very proud of it. This project is so personal to me and now that it’s out there, it’s interesting to see what people have to say about it.”
“I’d say my worst Halloween costume was when I was 12-years-old and I dressed up as Morticia from the Addams Family, one of my favorite characters ever. Using the cans of colored hairspray, I painted my thick hair all black. When we were out trick-or-treating with our family and friends, I felt so cute and — it started raining. The hair dye seeped down my face, chest, my arms… It was horrible, I was crying, and covered in this probably very chemical stuff.”
“My friends always say I’m the “very, nurturing-mama, crystal-guru, good advice-giver” of the group. I guess I’ve always been that way, very protective of my people, and connected since I was little. Doing this movie was just intertwining the two things I’ve always loved most. One of which is my work and the other, how I make myself feel calm in my everyday life.”
“I have been so lucky to meet such amazing women throughout my life. I think the reason I’ve been drawn to them is that I was raised by a single mother in a house with two sisters. I have my group of six girlfriends and every day I’m like, “I’m so lucky.””
“I found sisterhood through truth in my life and just being honest, showing my real colors, and making sure that my friends have a safe space to let their guard down.”
“I’m a theater junkie. You can never stop learning and there is no way to perfect your craft. I think that everybody comes into it on their own.”
“We need to see more young women, older women, raising each other up — not tearing each other down. This world run by men is just pushing us closer and closer to irreversible damage. Female power is what this world needs because we are the creators, literally.”
“When I wake up in the morning, I try not to go on my phone. The first thing I do is go into my journal and write down my dreams.”
“I’ve been told by certain people that I need to pay attention to my dreams specifically because they hold a lot of meanings for what goes on in my everyday life.”
“I find that it’s way better to interpret your own dreams. I do candle magic almost every day, mixing my oils that have different properties. I always have a crystal on me for how I’m feeling. But, I’d say a big part of my practice is my morning cleansing ritual. I’m not casting spells or anything like that. Sometimes, if the moon is in a certain phase, I’ll do a manifestation ceremony on my own.”
