Quotes

“I loved working with Bruce [Khan], he’s such a professional – the collaborative process and chemistry onscreen was really interesting.”

“When I filmed Volcano High School in 2001, I was 24. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I always carried a chair around that had ‘passionate Jang Hyuk’ written on it. It’s cringeworthy, but I really thought that passion was all I needed for acting.”

“Now that I’m in my mid-40s, I’ve come to realize that age deepens a person’s value and identity. I definitely have a wider range of understanding about the world, which is beneficial for me as an actor.”

“I want my American audience to enjoy great Korean film content. These days movies are made of a lot of computer graphics but our movie is different, such as actor to actor and one scene one cut technique, so that people can really feel the acting come alive. That’s what I want my audience to take with them.”

“I think there are some unique aspects of Korean Culture that are well received around the globe so I think that’s one thing. Also compared to the entertainment industry in Hollywood the budgets in Korea are not as high but we have skills to produce great content with limited budgets so I think that’s another aspect of why Korean content is well received.”
