Kiawentiio Tarbell, who’s more known simply as Kiawentiio, is a Canadian-American actress, singer, and songwriter.

She’s best known for her appearances in the series Anne with an E (2019) and Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024).

Career

Kiawentiio made her small-screen debut by appearing in the television series Anne with an E (2019), which aired in CBC as Ka’kwer. To get this role, she had to compete with other 200 indigenous Canadian actresses.

A year later, she debuted on the big screen by starring in Beans (2020), as a pre-teenager Mohawwk girl who lives in Kahnawake in the early 90s, during the Oka Crisis period.

She wrote and sang the song Light At The End that plays during the movie’s final credits.

In 2021, she successfully acquired taking a recurring role in the situation comedy series Rutherford Falls that aired in Peacock, as a character named Maya Thomas.

In the same year, the actress released In My Head (2021), her first EP album.

She was chosen for the role of Katara in the Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) in 2021 that produced by and aired on Netflix as the live action version of its cartoon series.
