Lim Young Woong

Lim Young Woong had always wanted to become a singer, a ballad singer to be exact. He later changed into a trot singer after winning the Excellence Prize in KBS1’s Korea Sings in 2016.

Following this win, the man from Pocheon signed with the label Mulgogi Music.

He then released his first two digital singles Hate You (2016) and What’s So Important (2017). But they were not commercially successful.

Young Woong started to get massive attention in 2020, when competing in Mr. Trot. He became the winner out of 17.000 applicants.

For his win, he got to release a special track written by lyricist Kim Eana.

The song titled Trust In Me peaked at number 11 on Gaon Digital Chart. Later on, the song gave him a Melon Music Award for Best Trot and Genie Music Award for Best Trot Track.

On March 2021, he released his next single My Starry Love. The song was written by famous Trot singer-songwriter Seol Woon Do.

My Starry Love quickly gained public attention and debuted on top of Gaon Digital Chart. It also gave Young Woong his first music program award by getting first place on MBC’s Show! Music Core.
