Nigel Braun, known online as NileRed, is a Canadian chemist, TikTok star, and YouTube star. He did his first experiment by extracting capsaicin and capsaicinoids from hot chilli and ghost peppers.
Later, Nigel attempted zinc plating and attempted to create thermite. All these experiments increased his love for chemistry.
Nigel had done numerous experiments and repeated many of them even before he started filming and creating his YouTube channel.

Career
In early 2014, while working as an organic laboratory technician, Nigel was given the opportunity to work on a few small projects, and decided to document them.
At that time, he only wanted to document his projects for his own purposes. Therefore, he had no intention of sharing it publicly.
However, in March 2014, Nigel decided to share them with the world through YouTube.
On 11 March 2014, he started his first YouTube channel, NileRed, and started publishing science experiment videos on it.
He started receiving positive feedback from people soon after. In 2015, Nigel decided to set up a lab at his home and start filming there, as he couldn’t film his projects in the research labs of his university.
He chose to work from his parents’ garage and initially struggled to procure even the basic chemicals and glassware here.
After dropping out of his master’s degree in 2015, Nigel was clueless about his future course.
Although he loved to create YouTube videos and teach science through them, his channel was not financially viable, earning about $6 a day.
Nigel started studying a business course, but later, he discontinued his studies.
He decided to dedicate a full year to his YouTube channel, as he hoped this would grow it to the point that it could generate income.
