After graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Arts, Sylvia Hoeks appeared in the Dutch movie Staatsgevaarlijk (2005). It marked her debut as an actress in the entertainment industry.
That very same year, she also played the lead role in the psychological thriller series Vuurzee. A year later, she joined the cast of another Dutch TV series titled Gooische Vrouwen.
Her career breakthrough then came in 2007 with the Dutch movie Duska, for which she won the Golden Calf for her spectacular performance.
From 2007 to 2012, she had been involved in a lot of acting projects such as the movie The Gang of Oss (2011) and the TV series The Adulterer (2011).
In 2013, she had her first international role as Claire Ibbetson in the movie The Best Offer. After that, she started taking on more roles on an international scale.
One of the most memorable roles she played internationally was Luv in the 2017 sci-fi movie titled Blade Runner 2049. She gained a lot of fame after the release of the movie.
